You Can Make A Difference
Historic cemeteries are irreplaceable landscapes.
Many of the historic cemeteries in our state have been neglected for decades.
The plight of both rural and urban cemeteries can be attributed to such factors
as abandonment, apathy, encroachment, environmental factors, vandalism, and
theft.
Pollution has led to the deterioration of many manuments and markers in our
urban cemeteries causing stones to blacken and decay. In an effort to erase the
effects of time and pollution, some well-meaning people used improper cleaning
techniques, such as the use of bleach to whiten the marbale markers, which in
turn will hasten the decline of the stone.
Before we lose Friendship Cemetery from our memory, we want to do all we can to
preserve, upgrade, and upkeep it. We have a plan of action that will take
the effort of local citizens, alumni organizations, and anyone else that have
love ones resting in Friendship Cemetery. We are counting on you to
volunteer time or donate funds in order for us to preserve our sacred cemetery.
